I've been sitting at home for 50 days without my van! I know what you're thinking and believe me, I have thought all those things and more. How can a stay-at-home mom of three live for 50 days without her minivan? It's been difficult, but we have survived. As much as it pains me to admit this fact...It's been a frustrating situation, but humbling at the same time. Sure, there have been those moments when I pray that my school-age child does not call because he needs me to pick him up at school; and sure, we were not able to take our annual Mardi Gras vacation; and most definitely there have been days when cabin fever has set taken over! My husband leaves us his car on the days Emily goes to school and we have probably spent an equal amount on rental cars as we will on the repair bill.
This situation has taught me a lesson. It has taught me that I don't have to go to the grocery store EVERYDAY. I don't have to take the baby out for a ride every afternoon to get him to sleep (wink-wink) and just happen upon the Starbucks drive-thru. Target does not need my business every day either! I have learned to appreciate the things at home. I have baked with my daughter, colored numerous pages in her coloring books, cleaned/organized overbearing closets, watched my baby take his first steps, and the list goes on! Home is where the heart is...until that heart gets restless and just wants to go!
Being "stuck at home" can be frustrating & depressing at times. There have been several days that I had my hopes high that the van was fixed - only to have those hopes shot down. So now, I will sit & wait patiently. Well, as patiently as I can!
